The map below shows the location of Minhe Hui and Tu Autonomous County, the approximate location where the plant would be built in Haidong Prefecture, Qinghai Province.
Background on Project
In 2010 it was reported that China Huaneng was planning to build a coal-fired power plant known as Huaneng People with a total planned capacity of 2,400 MW in Qinghai Province.[1]
In 2011 the power station was reported as 1200 MW.[2][3]
In 2015 the plant was reported as 2 x 350 MW and sponsored by Qinghai Mingde Energy Logistics Group.[4]
Nationwide Restrictions Imposed on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity
In January 2017 China's National Energy Administration suspended over 100 planned and under-construction coal power projects with a total capacity of over 100GW in 13 provinces, including Qinghai Minhe. It is unclear when or if the projects will be revived.[5]
