Background on Plant

In October 2012, Utico signed a deal with Shanghai Electric, a Chinese maker of power generation and electrical equipment, to build a 270-MW power station in RAK Maritime City for US$408 million.[1]

UAE plans for a contract to construct the plant to be awarded in 2015, and for the plant to be completed in 2017.[2] Utico said it plans for the plant to have carbon capture and storage.[3]

As of May 2018 there are no news that the construction contract has been awarded or that construction has begun. Plans appear to be deferred or abandoned.
