Background on Mine
The Ramagundam coal mines are owned by Singareni Collieries Company Limited (a subsidiary of state-owned Coal India). Mines in the area include Ravindra Khani, Medipally, and Adriyala. The area is part of the much larger Godavari Valley coalfield.
Expansion
The 2.8 million tons per annum (MTPA) Adriyala underground coal mine is currently under development in the Ramagundam area, at a cost of $190 million. SCCL hopes to begin production at Adriyala in 2015.[2][3]
