Background

Facor Power entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Ferror Alloys Corporation Ltd. for a 20-year term, during which term Facor will purchase at least 51% of the power generated from the Randia plant at a price of RS 3.40 per kWh, subject to a price escalation mechanism tied to increases in the cost of coal. The remaining power generated by the plant will be sold on a merchant basis. Unit 1 went into operation in July 2011. In its 2013 annual report the company stated that construction on Unit 2 was completed and it would begin operations in September/October 2013.
