The Republican Unity Coaltion is an organization that believes "sexual orientation should be a 'non-issue' for Republicans. The group is co-chaired by Charles Francis and Don Capoccia. RUC's website is registered to Francis. The group was formed during the 2000 presidential campaign to support George W. Bush. The other larger gay Republican organization, the Log Cabin Republicans, supported Sen. John McCain.

RUC was active in 2002's mid-term elections. RUC provided "record-setting support for the Republican party, with $50,000 RUC checks each to the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee, 'far and away the largest soft-money contribution ever given by a gay advocacy group to a GOP Committee,' according to a letter to supporters. RUC raised funds through high-donor dinners in California, Arizona, and New York. VP Dick Cheney's daughter Mary Cheney was a special guest at the Arizona dinner, held in the home of Francis's DCI Group colleagues Tom Synhorst. George Pataki was the guest of honor at the New York event hosted by Capoccia. [1]
