Biographical Information

"Richard joined the Board of Standard Chartered PLC in 2002 as a Group Executive Director responsible for Risk following which he took responsibility for Africa, the Middle East, Pakistan and Europe & the Americas. Richard was appointed Group Finance Director in 2006 and is currently responsible for Finance, Risk, Group Treasury, and Group Strategy & Corporate Development.

"Richard qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse in 1983 and, prior to joining Standard Chartered, held a number of senior roles in the banking industry including at Hill Samuel and at Credit Suisse. He was Group Finance Director of Woolwich PLC and Group Financial Controller of Barclays PLC. ... In 2008, Richard became a Non Executive Director of 3i Group plc where, since 2010, he also acts as the Senior Independent Director and the Chair of the Audit & Compliance Committee.

"Richard was born in 1958 and attended Wolverhampton Grammar School. He graduated from Exeter College, Oxford with an MA (Hons) in Modern History. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Richard is also a member of the Governing Council of the International Chamber of Commerce, United Kingdom. He was a member of the Indo British Partnership Network from 2005 until 2007. In 2009 he was appointed to the Financial Reporting Review Panel of the Financial Reporting Council. " [1]
