Richard S. Lowry is an "internationally recognized military historian" and veteran of the U.S. Navy Submarine Service.[1] Lowry is "currently working on his next book, The Surge, which will tell of General [David] Petraeus' attempt to win the peace in Iraq."[2]

In 2003, Lowry published The Gulf War Chronicles (ISBN 0595296696) and US Marine in Iraq: Operation Iraqi Freedom (ISBN 1841769827). His Marines in the Garden of Eden was published in June 2006. Lowry has also been published in Military Magazine, Leatherneck and the Marine Corps Gazette.[1]
