Roddy Brett

Roddy Brett "is a former advisor to the UN System Guatemala (United Nations Development Programme, Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights) on indigenous peoples and citizenship. Professor Brett also served as a former advisor on Indigenous Affairs to the Norwegian Embassy in Guatemala, where he lived for seven years.

"His professional career combines fifteen years of academic research/teaching in political science that focused on a variety of themes including democratization, genocide studies, political violence, social movements, human rights and indigenous issues. His research interests focus on Latin America, particularly on Guatemala and Colombia. In 2002, Brett received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of London. He is the author of Social Movements, Indigenous Politics and Democratization in Guatemala, 1985-1996 (Brill Academic Publishers, 2008). Currently, he is a Professor of Political Science at the Universidad del Rosario in Colombia."
