Biographical Information
"Roger Bettles joined the Council of The University of Leicester in 1998 and became Chairman and Pro-Chancellor in 2007. His previous career was with the NHS as a Consultant in Dental Public Health and as an NHS trust Chief Executive in Leicestershire.

"Roger Bettles was born in Leicester. He was educated at a small village church school in Evington; at Wyggeston Boys` Grammar School; and the University of Birmingham.
"He studied dentistry, later returning for postgraduate study in Dental Public Health in which he became one of the first consultants. He became Chief Executive of Fosse Health NHS Trust, the largest UK community health services trust, serving Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland including all the community hospitals, as well as for people with Learning Difficulties.
"Roger was elected President of the British Dental Association in 1995. He joined the University Council in 1998 on retirement from the NHS and was elected Chair in 2007." [1]
