Roy P. Mottahedeh "is professor of Islamic History at Harvard University, where from 1987 to 1990 he directed the Center for Middle Eastern Studies. He has participated in a variety of academic programs, including the Shaw Traveling Scholar Program, Harvard Society of Fellows, and has received numerous awards, including a Guggenheim Fellowship."
