Russell Marks His biography included in the book Philanthropy and Cultural Imperialism notes: "Russell Marks is an Assistant Professor in History of Education at Indiana University, Bloomington. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois in 1972. He is currently writing a book on the history of the concept of individual differences." (p.454)

His Ph.D. was titled "Testers, trackers, and trustees : the ideology of the intelligence testing movement in America 1900-1954" (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 1972).
