Background on Plant

The two existing coal-fired units of Qinzhou power station, totaling 1,260 MW, were brought online in 2007. The plant is owned by State Development & Investment Corporation (SDIC).[1][2]

Description of Expansion

SDIC is currently building two additional coal-fired units at this plant, with a total planned capacity of 2,100 MW. The units are projected to be completed in 2015.[3][4]


The two units were completed by September 2016, along with the Qinzhou Port Coal Terminal at Beibu Gulf Port.[5] [6]
