Background

SEPC Power Private (previously SPIC Electric Power Corporation) received environmental clearance (EC) to build a 525 MW coal plant in the Tuticorin Port area. EC was granted in November 2010,[1] and extended in March 2016.[2]

Construction began in 2015.[3] The power station is planned for 2020.[4]
