Sam McAmis of Cleveland, Tennessee, is a member of the pro-war in Iraq Republican front group Vets for Freedom's National Leadership Team. He is an Iraq veteran who served as a U.S. Army Captain in the 3rd Infantry Division.[1]
U.S. Marine Corps Captain Sam McAmis was wounded in Iraq August 2, 2005, and returned "from a seven-month tour in Iraq" in late September 2005. "In addition to the Purple Heart, [then] Lieutenant McAmis's personal decorations included the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device and Combat Action Ribbon."[2]
