Background

On its website Kohinoor Group states that the project will be 215 MW, built in two phases: 2 x 33 MW and 1 x 150 MW. Kohinoor Group said work on the first phase of 66 MW had already commenced.

It was later reported the plant was to be constructed by Abhijeet Group. Progress stalled in 2014 due to the Coalgate scandal. In May 2016 Abhijeet Group said work on the 2 x 30 MW plant, of which the state would receive 30 MW of electricity, could restart within three months if the state renewed its power purchase agreement with Abhijeet Group.

In February 2017 the Times of India reported the project was cancelled.
