Background on Plant
Shaoxing Binhai power station began as a two-unit combined heat and power (CHP) coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 600 MW in Zhejiang Province. The plant was completed in 2011, and is majority-owned by Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group.[1][2]
In 2015 Zhejiang Provincial Energy Group was permitted to add four 57 MW units to the power station.[3][4]
As of 2016 they are under construction and planned for operation in 2017.[5]
The first unit of the second phase (unit 3) was commissioned in April 2017.[6] Unit 4 was completed in July 2017,[7] and unit 5 in December 2017.[8] Unit 6 began operating in April 2018.[9]
Proposed expansion
In October 2017 plans were announced for a seventh unit of 57 MW.[10]
