Background
In May 2018 Shenzhen Gas announced a plan to develop a small-scale LNG terminal in Shenzhen.[1] The RMB 1.4 billion ($219 million) project will have an 80 thousand cubic meter (Mcm) storage tank and a wharf that can receive LNG shipments of up to 50,000 tons. In June 2019 the project was under construction.[2]
The new facility, which launched in August 2019 with a capacity of 800,000 tonnes a year, will take China’s total number of operating LNG terminals to 22.[3]
