Background on Plant
The two existing coal-fired units of Shijiazhuang Liangcun power station, totaling 660 MW, were permitted in 2009 and brought online in 2011. The plant was originally owned by CPI.[1][2]
Description of Expansion
CPI is planning to build two additional back-fired cogeneration units at this plant, each 25 MW.[3] They were permitted for construction in August 2015.[4]
However, satellite photos from July 2017 to April 2018 show construction has yet to commence on the units. Plans appear to be deferred or cancelled.
Ownership
In July 2015, China Power Investment Corporation (CPI) and State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation (SNPTC) merged to become State Power Investment Corporation (国家电力投资集团), one of the five largest state-owned electricity producers in the People's Republic of China.[5]
