Biographical Information

"Shirley Lord was born in London where her career began on Fleet Street as a journalist at the age of 17. Before she left England for the U.S. in 1971 she had become in turn woman's editor for all three London evening newspapers. In New York she became beauty editor of Harper's Bazaar, went on to become a vice president of Colgate with global responsibilities for their Helena Rubinstein division, before returning to journalism as beauty director of Vogue for 16 years, where she remains on the masthead today as contributing editor. At the forefront of the beauty and fashion worlds all her working life, she is the author of two "bibles" of beauty and health, five best-selling novels sold all over the world and an early autobiography. In private life, Shirley Lord has two sons, four grandchildren and lives in Manhattan in the historic home she created with her late husband, A.M. Rosenthal, the longtime executive editor of the New York Times. She is currently working on another memoir." [1]
