Background on Project

In August 2014, Sinar Mas announced plans to build a two-unit, 400-MW, mine-mouth coal-fired power plant in Jambi Province. Sinar Mas was then attempting to get authorization from PLN to build the plant.[1][2]

In an April 2015 interview, Sinar Mas Group Vice-Chairman Franky Oesman Widjaja told Reuters that the company was committed to the US$600-700 million plant, of which US$500 million will be funded by the China Development Bank.[3]

As of December 2018 there was no additional news about the project and it appears to have been cancelled.
