Sir Gustav Nossal was Australian of the Year in 2000 and is a leading figure in the area of immunology.
His many roles have included Director of The Walter & Eliza Hall Institute and the Professor of Medical Biology at Melbourne University. He also plays a strategic role in the World Health Organisation’s Global Polio Eradication Initiative and the Gates Foundation Vaccination Initiative. He is also Co-chair of the Aboriginal Reconciliation Council.
