Lambert is Director General of the Confederation of British Industry CBI since 2006. Here he replaced Sir Digby Jones as head of the CBI business group. He relinquished his post, as it could lead to a "conflict of interest" as a member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee from 2003-2006 (an external member of the Bank of England's rate-setting Monetary Policy Committee).[1]
