The map below shows the location of the village of Slavino, the approximate location where the plant would be built in Novokuznetsky district, Kemerovo province.
Background on Plant
In September 2008, the coal mining company Kuzbassrazrezugol (KRU), a subsidiary of UMMC, signed contracts with the provincial government of Kemerovo and Korean builders KEPCO and CoreCross to build a 500-MW coal-fired power plant near Slavino village in Kemerovo province. The plant would serve KRU's Erunakovskoe coal mine, and would cost about $600 million.[1]
No further reference to this proposal can be found KRU's 2011 annual report, anywhere else on the company's website, or in any more recent news sources; indeed, no mention of any power generation activity can be found on the company's website.[2][3] It is unclear whether this proposal is in fact currently being pursued.
