Soma Port Gas Power Station (also known as Fukushima Natural Gas Power Plant) is a 1,180-megawatt (MW) gas-fired power plant in Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. Construction of the power plant began in October 2017.[1][2]

Background
The Fukushima Natural Gas power plant is the base of the Japan Petroleum Exploration (JAPEX) company's Natural Gas-fired Power Generation Project at Soma Port in Shinchi Town, Fukushima. The overall project was approved for commercialization in October 2016.[3] Construction of the power plant began in October 2017.[2] Fukushima Natural Gas Power Plant is scheduled to commence commercial operation in spring 2020.[2]
