Sondra Hale

Sondra Hale "is professor of anthropology and women's studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research has focused on gender, Islam, political economy, and postcolonial and cultural studies. She is the author of Gender Politics in Sudan: Islamism, Socialism, and the State (1996) as well as numerous articles on gender, Islam and politics in Sudan and Eritrea. She is currently co-editing a book titled Sudan's Killing Fields: Perspectives on Genocide." The latter book is being coauthored with Laura Beny and Lako Tongun. Cv
