Background
On May 31, 2015, Spi Ports Private Limited applied for a terms of reference for a 2 x 660 MW coal plant in Mahakalpara Taluk, Kendrapara District.[2]
The 2015 pre-feasibility report states that the plant would be supercritical. Coal supply would either by 100% indigenous coal from India's Mahanadi Coalfields Limited or 100% imported coal from Indonesia and Australia.[1]
With no developments since the 2015 application, plans for the project appear to be abandoned.
