Stephen F. Kingsmore
Stephen F. Kingsmore was appointed as president of the National Center for Genome Resources in January 2004. The NCGR is an independent research institute with a pioneering vision of halting diseases and improving nutrition by the use of scientific software and computation.
"Kingsmore is a physician-scientist with significant experience in senior leadership roles in the biotechnology industry. Research interests are the transformation of medicine, especially sepsis, through comprehensive understanding of biological processes, in a process of integration of experimental information developed by many research laboratories, development of robust mathematical models of physiologic processes and use these to develop dynamic, data-driven treatments. Kingsmore's previous roles included chief operating officer of Molecular Staging Inc. and vice president of Research of CuraGen Corp., both of New Haven, Conn. Prior to that, he was assistant professor at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he positionally cloned six disease genes and published more than 70 peer-reviewed research papers. Kingsmore received a B.Sc. in medical microbiology with first class honors and graduated in medicine (M.B., Ch.B., B.A.O.) from the Queen's University of Belfast, Northern Ireland. He completed internship and residency in internal medicine, and a fellowship in rheumatology, at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C."
Kingsmore is an elder at Grace Community Church in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Previously, he was an elder at Christ Chapel C&MA Church in Madison, CT. Kingsmore pursues Kingdom advancement through prayer ministry and strong strategic planning.[1]
