"Stephen Leslie owns Cedar Mountain Farm at Cobb Hill Ecovillage. Along with is wife, Kerry Gawalt, and daughter Maeve, he manages a small dairy herd of Jersey cows and a horse-powered community supported agriculture (CSA) market garden. Stephen leads our Farm Program.
"Stephen is an author, illustrator, and Ashtanga Yoga teacher. In March 2013, his book titled “The New Horse-Powered Farm: Tools and Systems for the Small-Scale Sustainable Market Grower” was published by Chelsea Green. The New York Times featured an article on Stephen and his book."[1]
Their farm is run under biodynamic and organic principles.[1]

- "The horses are key to the life he shares here with Ms. Gawalt, whom he met 20 years ago while they were working as apprentices at Hawthorne Valley Farm, a 400-acre biodynamic farm in Ghent, N.Y. They and their 6-year-old daughter, Maeve, are part of the 60-member Cobb Hill co-housing community incorporated in 1998. It was the brainchild of Donella Meadows, the late environmental scientist and an author of “The Limits to Growth,” an influential 1972 book that used computer modeling to predict the future of the earth if the population continued to expand and consume limited resources.
