Background
Sugar Camp No. 1 Mine is an underground mine near the villages of Akin and Macedonia, in Franklin County, Illinois. The mine is operated by M-Class Mining LLC, a subsidiary of Foresight Energy.[1]
In November 2013, a 36-year-old miner was killed in an accident at the mine.[2] In December 2015, a 20-year-old miner was killed in an accident at the mine.[3]
