Background

Surguja power station is a proposed 540 MW power station that would use coal washery rejects as fuel. It is proposed by Surguja Power, a subsidiary of Adani Group. The project was issued a terms of reference in 2013, which was extended in March 2016.

In February 2017 Adani applied for a fresh Terms of Reference, this time for a 4 x 150 MW coal plant.

As of June 2019 the project has yet to receive a new permit, and plans appear deferred or abandoned.
