Susan S. Bell
Susan S. Bell "is Vice President for The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, which is located in Menlo Park, California. She joined the Foundation in 2000. She works with the board and staff to continue to improve the effectiveness of the Foundation’s programs and the organizations with which the programs work.
"She also directs the Foundation's Philanthropy Program, which aims to improve the Foundation’s own grantmaking and makes grants to improve philanthropic practice and nonprofit effectiveness. She manages several of the Foundation’s administrative departments as well as the Board’s nominating committee. Ms. Bell served as Executive Director of the Presidential Search Committee for the Hewlett Foundation.
"Prior to working with the Hewlett Foundation, she spent over fourteen years in strategic planning, development, alumni relations, and communications for Northwestern University (Chicago, IL), the Sierra Club (San Francisco, CA), and Stanford University (Palo Alto, CA). At Stanford, Ms. Bell also helped direct the Environmental and Natural Resources Law & Policy Program.
"Ms. Bell serves on the boards of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation (Decatur, IL) and The Foundation Incubator (Palo Alto, CA) and on the advisory board of the Nicholas Institute for Environmental Policy Solutions at Duke University (Durham, NC). She is immediate past president of Openlands Project (Chicago)." [1]
