Background

Xstrata Coal combined the project formerly known as Lossan with neighboring First Coal tenements to create an expanded open-cut coal project, now known as the Suska project.[1]

A partnership formed by JX Nippon Oil & Energy and Xstrata Coal will invest $35 million on a preliminary study of the Suska coal project in eastern British Columbia.[2]

Glencore and Xstrata merged on May 2, 2013. Glencore Xstrata plc is now the fourth biggest mining company.[3]
