Svitlana Kovalchuk

"Svitlana KOVALCHUK is the current Executive Director of Yalta European Strategy (YES). She joined YES in 2016 from German Development Cooperation “Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer die International Zusammenarbeit Gmbh” (GIZ). There, from September 2014 to April 2016, Dr. Kovalchuk was the Director of the Project for Strengthening Capacities of the Ukrainian Emergency Services. Numerous projects were implemented under her leadership, including the construction of seven IDP settlements and the establishment of the humanitarian aid to the cities in Eastern Ukraine. Previously, in 2010-2014, Dr. Kovalchuk was a Deputy Director of Advisory Services and Capacity Development for EURO 2012 project of GIZ. Her responsibilities were marketing and tourism development of four host cities in Ukraine. Dr. Kovalchuk began her professional career at the National Television Company of Ukraine in 2005. There, she headed the Ukrainian delegation at the Eurovision Young Musicians in Vienna, Austria in 2008, and later at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv in 2009. Dr. Kovalchuk holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Institute for International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and an MBA from the MBA International SIC Academy.
