T. Alexander Aleinikoff
T. Alexander Aleinikoff "is the Dean of the Georgetown University Law Center and the Executive Vice President for Law Center Affairs. He has been a Senior Associate at the Migration Policy Institute and the International Migration Policy Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. In 2001-2002, he was a Visiting Fellow at the Institut Universitaire des Haut Etudes Internationales, Geneva.
"From 1994-1997, Mr. Aleinikoff served as the General Counsel and then Executive Associate Commissioner for Programs of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). Prior to joining the Clinton administration, he was a full Professor of Law at the University of Michigan Law School.
"After receiving his law degree, Mr. Aleinikoff served as a law clerk to the Honorable Edward Weinfeld, U.S. District Judge. He has published numerous articles in the areas of immigration, race, statutory interpretation, and constitutional law, and he is also the author of the principal text and casebooks on U.S. immigration. His recent scholarship includes: co-editor (with Douglas Klusmeyer) of Citizenship Today: Global Perspectives and Practices; co-author (with Douglas Klusmeyer) of From Migrants to Citizens: Membership in a Changing World; co-author (with David Martin and Hiroshi Motomura) of Immigration: Process and Policy; and co-author (with John Garvey) of Modern Constitutional Theory: A Reader. His newest book, Citizenship Policies for an Age of Migration, was published in May 2002.
