Talabira-I

The 3 million ton-per-annum Talabira-I coal mine was formerly owned by Hindalco Industries (a subsidiary of the Aditya Birla Group).[2] It was reauctioned in February 2015, and bought by GMR Chhattisgarh Energy, a subsidiary of the GMR Group.[3]

Talabira-II and -III

The Talabira-II coal block was formerly owned by Hindalco Industries, but was never mined. This coal block allocation was particularly scandalous, and was an important driver in the reallocation of dozens of coal blocks across India in early 2015.[4][5] Talabira-III was allocated to Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (a subsidiary of state-owned Coal India), but it was also never mined.[6] It is not clear to whom the two blocks have been reallocated, or whether they have even been reallocated yet at all.
