Background on Plant
PLN began work on a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total planned capacity of 400 MW in North Sumatra Province. According to the Jakarta Post, construction on the Tanjung Pasir power station was halted in 2009 due to lack of permitting. According to officials, the construction contractor, PT Ninject, had been doing work for six months but had never applied for environmental management, construction, business, or building permits.[1]
The project may have been replaced by the Pangkalan Susu power station, which is in the same district.
