Background

The power station is owned and operated by Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), the national electricity utility owned by the Indonesian government.[1]

Proposed Expansion

In June 2019 it was announced that PT PLN Persero would build a 300-MW expansion at the Tarahan power station.[2] In November 2019 Lampung Governor Arinal Djunaidi stated that construction of the expansion was part of a plan to reach 100% electrification for Lampung.[3]
