Background
Asia Power Group is a UK company whose flagship project is the development of the Thar Coalfields Blocks 3A & 3B located in the Sindh province of Pakistan. According to the Asia Power Group website, the company "is developing a mine mouth power station project with a capacity of some 1320 MW. On completion, Asia Power Group will own and operate one of the largest coal mining and power producing complexes in the world.[1] In 2014 Asia Power was awarded Thar Block III for coal mining and a coal plant through a bidding process.[2]
There have been no further reports on this project, and it appears to be shelved or abandoned.
