The Togara North coal project is located approximately 150km west of Rockhampton, in the southern Bowen Basin in Queensland, Australia. Xstrata Coal states on its website that it has a 33.3% stake in the project.[1]

In 2002 it was reported that the proposed underground mine had a projected life of 35 years at an annual production rate of up to 6 million tonnes of steaming coal a year.[2]

As of September 2019 there is very little information about this mine, suggesting that it has not been advanced in some time.

Coal Mine Background

In 2001 it was considered that the mine would require significant infrastructure investment.[3] In 2002 Native Title land agreements were signed between Kangoulu and Ghungalu people, the Gurang Land Council and Xstrata Coal Australia.[4]

Glencore and Xstrata merged in 2013.[5]
