Background on Plant
The nine-unit, 1,415-MW coal-fired Tom-Usinskaya GRES power station is owned by SUEK. The plant’s nine units were brought online between 1958 and 1965.[1][2][3] In 2008 a plan to build an additional 660-MW unit was announced as part of a plan to increase the plant's capacity.[4] In 2014 a rebuilt Unit 4 with 124 MW capacity was commissioned and a rebuilt Unit 5 with 121 MW capacity was commissioned.[3] As of December 2019 the plan to build an additional 660-MW unit has not progressed and the unit appears to be cancelled.
