Background on Plant

The first seven units of Tongmei Yongji power station, totaling 380 MW, were commissioned from 1973 to 2000. Units 1-2 were retired in 1990, and units 3-7 retired in 2013. Units 8-9, totaling 600 MW, were brought online between 2006 to 2007. The plant is owned by Datong Coal Mining Group.[1]

Description of Expansion

Datong Coal planned two additional coal-fired units at this plant, units 10-11, with a total capacity of 700 MW. Construction began in 2013 and operation is planned for 2015-2016.[2][3]
