The War Graves And Battlefield Heritage Group exists 'to promote an understanding of battlefield heritage; to assist the Commonwealth War Graves Commission; to encourage education programmes in this field; and to support efforts to conserve war heritage sites'

The group receives administrative assistance (with mailings, arranging meetings etc) from the Association for Battlefield Archeology and Conservation UK and from the Imperial War Museum. Each organisation provides a member of their staff to act as joint secretaries to the group.
