War on Want

War on Want is a UK-based anti-poverty charity that funds overseas partner organisations while campaigning in the UK for human rights [1]

Their total income in 2009 was £2,010,202 according to their annual review [2]

"A letter from Victor Gollancz to The Guardian in February 1951 led to the founding of War on Want...

"The Association for World Peace was formed in March 1951 to meet this response, and in May it invited Harold Wilson MP to chair a committee which would work out a plan "for the conquest of world hunger". This eventually became War on Want: A Plan for World Development, published on 9 June 1952...

"War on Want is affiliated to Solidar, an international alliance of NGOs concerned with issues of justice and with historical links to the labour movement. We are at the forefront of the Trade Justice Movement and we were a key player in the Make Poverty History campaign in 2005." [3]
