Background on Plant
Weihai power station is a four-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 1,920 MW in Shandong Province. The plant is majority-owned by China Huaneng.
The two-unit Weihai-1, totaling 250 MW, has been retired. The two-unit Weihai-2, totaling 600 MW, was completed in 1998.[1]
The two-unit Weihai-3, totaling 1,320 MW, began operating in 2010,[2] although it was not permitted for construction until 2012.[3]
