Wendy Craik
Dr Wendy Craik works for "the Canberra office of ACIL Consulting. Dr Craik is the Chair of the Australian Fisheries Management Authority which manages the $500m of Commonwealth fisheries. Previous roles have included CEO of Earth Sanctuaries Ltd a publicly listed company specialising in conservation and ecotourism, CEO of the National Farmers' Federation, Australia's peak farm lobby group and Executive Officer of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, responsible for the management and conservation of the Great Barrier Reef. Dr Craik is a councillor of the National Competition Council and the Australian Institute of Marine Science and is a board member of the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal. She is Chair of the National Rural Advisory Committee. Dr Craik was a member of the Australian Information Economy Advisory Council and of the board of the Institute of Land and Food Resources of the University of Melbourne. ... She was awarded Executive Woman of the Year for the rural sector in 1998 and Ansett Private Sector Business Woman of the Year for the ACT in 1999. Wendy has been inducted into the Business Women's hall of fame." [1]
In June 2002, the Australian and New Zealand pro-biotech lobby group, Life Sciences Network, announced that Craik had been appointed as its Australian Director. "I look forward to the part I can play in ensuring the responsible development and application of gene techjnologies within an appropriate regulatory framework continues within both countries," she stated in the media release.
