Werdohl-Elverlingsen power station

In March 2018, plant owner Enervie said it would retire the coal plant by the end of the month.[1]

Background on Plant
Werdohl-Elverlingsen-E power station was a two-unit coal-fired power plant with a total capacity of 530 MW, completed between 1971 and 1982. A 200 MW unit was retired in 2014, leaving only a 330 MW coal unit. It is owned by Enervie Gruppe.[2] The plant was only running for 780 hours in 2017. It is located outside the Rhine-Ruhr region, which only recently got connected to the regional grid, making it less likely to be judged as system-critical.[1]
