The mine site is located within the Warrior Coal Basin.[1] The target seam at this facility is the Mary Lee Seam of the Mary Lee Coal Group.[1]
According to the Alabama Surface Mining Commission's (ASMC) permit applications website, Signal Resources filed a new permit application for the mine on April 24, 2019. It is currently under review.[2]
