Wujiaqu power station

Background on Project

Xinjiang Nongliushi Coal & Electricity Company is owner of a 4 x 360 MW coal plant in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region. The plant was completed in 2011-2012.

Proposed expansion

Additionally, the company is planning to build four additional 1,100-MW coal-fired units at the power station, units 5-8.

Unit 5 was completed in 2014, and unit 6 in 2015.

2016: Nationwide Restrictions Imposed on Development of Coal-Fired Power Capacity

Due to new restrictions announced during 2016 by the National Energy Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission, further capacity expansions at this location appear to be on hold or cancelled. Proposed units 7-8 are therefore likely shelved.
