Background and Expansion

The first four units of the Shihezi Cogen power station, totaling 1,400 MW, were brought online between 2012 and 2013. The captive power plant is owned by Xinjiang Tianshan Aluminum.[1][2]

Expansion

In 2013 XPCC planned to build six additional units at the coal-fired power station, units 5-10, with a total additional capacity of 2,160 MW.[3][4][5][6][7]

In 2015 Units 9 and 10 were reported as under construction.[8][9]

Unit 9 was commissioned in 2016 and unit 10 in 2017.[10]

With no developments since 2015, units 5-8 appear to be cancelled.
