Background on Project

Xinhui Shuangshui Power Company is planning to build 2 x 600MW coal-fired units in Guangdong Province.[1]

One of the two units received EIA clearance and the NDRC permit in August 2014. The unit is planned for operation in 2018.[2] Unit 2 is still seeking permits,[3][4] but as of December 2019 has not received them.

Project suspended by central government

In January 2017 China's National Energy Board directed the Guangdong Province to suspend or postpone nine coal projects in the province, including this one, due to excess coal capacity.[5]

As of December 2019 there have been no developments on the units, which appear to be abandoned.
